Just a middle-aged guy with a life-long interest in aviation and technical stuff. Started flying electric model aeroplanes in 1995. Not long after, I converted a few CD-ROM motors for RC flying and then built some bigger brushless motors and a wind generator (outrunner style). I discovered that the principles behind it all interests me almost as much as flying them.
I started collecting information about brushless motors; winding schemes, formulas, etc. Then, finally this website was started to put the most relevant information in one place, so I could easily find it myself.
What I didn't expect was all the e-mail messages from all over the world thanking me for the website. That in itself was enough motivation to keep going.
In a sense, this website is a personal archive, but it brings me much joy knowing that it is used and enjoyed by many.
Now, at the end of 2013, it's time for a total re-design and revamp of the website. I hope you like the new format.
Some of my other hobbies and interests are described over at this website.
My ancestry is mixed German and Dutch Caucasian. 350 Years ago, my forebears from Europe settled in the Southern-most portion of Africa, in the area that is today known as South Africa. Hence the website name, Bavaria-Direct, which means 'Directly from Bavaria' (Germany).
